One Direction nearly sold out for 2013

In case there are any doubters left about the power of One Direction, the British boy band has seemingly done the impossible: It has sold out a concert at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater more than a year before the scheduled show on June 28, 2013. Yes, 2013.
(They're also close to selling out the second show on June 29, 2013, so if you want to see them on Long Island, you probably should, um, hurry. And then wait 13 months.)
Fan interest in the group, which already has a No. 1 album and Top 10 single "What Makes You Beautiful" to its name, is so intense, it's even shocking professionals.
"I've never seen anything like it," said Jason Miller, president of Live Nation's New York operation, which includes Jones Beach.
Miller, who is still working on the finishing touches for this year's Jones Beach schedule, says the idea of fans locking in plans that far in advance hasn't happened before. "I have never tried to put anything on sale that far out in my career," he said. "You just look at it and say, 'Wow! Where did this come from?' "
But it worked. Can scheduling for 2014 be far behind?
